Classical Dancing

There is only one thing old about this genre, and that is when it was established; at the turn of the 20th century.

Etched into the historical epochs of time, this fascinating genre is loved by dancers throughout the world. Although its popularity may not be compared with Ballroom and Latin it is still taught in many of our best dance schools.

Classical is the most graceful of genres and is strongly associated with what are called 3rd position dances. These are danced in an open side by side hold, with specific arm positions, for example the Fylde Waltz, Wedgwood Blue Gavotte, Gainsborough Glide etc.

It is a very versatile section as it also includes saunters and tangos which are danced in a hold similar to ballroom. A beautiful genre to watch.
